Nick Cowley

Leadership and Management Development Expert Nick Cowley is a Director of The Oxford Group and has a particular responsibility for the acquisition, retention and growth of client relationships over the long term. Nick personally relationship manages a portfolio of clients both national and international, as diverse as Anglo American, BeamGlobal, Christie’s, DWP, Harrods, NHS, Rothschild and Skanska.

Nick had a corporate background with British Airways, Bayer AG and Whitbread in Line Management, HR and OD roles. During this period he lived and worked for four years in the Middle East. Nick had particular corporate expertise of leading and working on international projects, participating in merger and acquisition activity, significant organisational change programmes, and designing and implementing broad learning and development architecture. 

As part of relationship management he also provides expert input to the development of programmes, in particular in leadership and management development. Nick manages The Oxford Group team of Relationship Managers and leads the strategic development in this area which contributes significantly to the overall performance of the business. He also is core to the business development activities of The Oxford Group to enable current clients and new contacts to engage with the group through a range of stimulating and varied opportunities.

In 2013, Nick led the research, development and design of The Oxford Group’s 5 Conversations programme.This new concept teaches managers how, when and why to hold five heartfelt, courageous and authentic conversations with their team which lead to improved workplace relationships and increased employee engagement. He also co-authored the book  '5 Conversations - How to transform trust, engagement and performance at work' (Panoma Press) which was shortlisted for the 2016 Chartered Management Institute (CMI) book awards in the category of “Practical Manager”.

As an executive coach, he has worked with senior executives in a range of clients, including 3i, BSkyB, BT, Christie’s, DWP, Johnson & Johnson, John Murphy & Sons, MOD Police, National School for Government (UK and in Abu Dhabi), NHS.

capability, and leading consortia of suppliers in complex organisations, Executive Coaching, Leadership and Management Development: design and development of solutions and content, planning and implementing large scale global implementation of solutions and evaluation of impact. A keynote speaker
at a wide range of events. Business focused solutions: using consultative and creative approaches to work with clients over time to develop holistic and sustained deep impact solutions contributing to overall organisational development.
